My name is Lorraine Mc Cauley. I am from Ballyshannon. I studied piano from an early age at Kelly’s school of music and Irish dance.
My late father Adrian Mc Cauley was a fine musician and singer and played drums and guitar in his band. From the age of 12 years I have played keyboards in his band on my school holidays bringing us all around the country to brilliant venues and pubs. A great experience for me which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Last year I obtained a music diploma from the royal Irish Academy of music, Dublin. Part of the course was to learn 2 new instruments saxophone and guitar which was great!!
I currently teach piano to the local childrenin ballyshannon and play the organ in st Patrick’s and st Mary’s cashelard, Ballyshannon.
I first heard lorraine a year ago when she sent me her video “I really think I’m crying” A song I carried fondly for many years and always associated with Philomena Begly I was astounded to hear Lorraines version. Philomena has a very distinct voice and when I heard lorraine she brought back memories of Philomena’s rendition of the song and if you close your eyes you would think you were listening to a young version of Philomena Begley. Her voice is distinctive Its a pure voice and if you watch her videos of her singing unplugged with her guitar she has a raw country voice . Put that together with a really lovely personality no airs and graces and just realness, You have Lorraine McCauley She is a little gem and I look forward to hearing much more from her . Mary K Burke
